Brush your hair toward the crown of the head, gather all the hair together, and secure with a hair elastic to create a ponytail. If your hair is really thick, add a second elastic.
Divide the hair left out of the ponytail in half. Twist the hair on the right side over to the right and up and over to the left. The section that was on your left side is your new right section.
Repeat the previous step by twisting the hair to the right, and take that section of hair up and over to your right. When you work this ropebraid pattern, it will allow the twists to stay separated, giving the ropebraid appearance.
Continue until you get to the ends and secure with a hair elastic.
Wrap the ropebraid around the base of the ponytail, securing it with bobby pins to create a bun. Finish off with a medium-hold hairspray.
