Beginners Yoga for Children: Standing Pose – Chair

Because standing postures require no equipment and very little space, they can be practiced anytime, anywhere. They can be suggested to your child during a lengthy wait, possibly inviting other children and making it a group game.

This pose stretches your child’s spine while reinforcing their lower back, legs, thighs, and soles. It stimulates balance, the abdominal organs, the diaphragm, and the heart.

  1. Stand back straight, feet together, arms extended in front of you. Inhale.
  2. Bend your knees while exhaling and pretend you are sitting on a chair. Maintain this position for a few seconds.
  3. Inhale as you come back to the initial position.
  4. Repeat three times.
